PBL challenges!

Hi my name is Dejon and I am going to talk about about my PBL. So the teachers gave us 3 challenges And my hub had to do them.

The first challenge was a balloon challenge. What we had to do is make a devise that could get a balloon from three meters away. The materials we had was paper 1 meter of tape and 6 meters of string. my class got into groups of 4. My group made a ball made out out newspaper and some tape on it to stick the balloon and bring it back. we have five terns to try and get the balloon but it did not work.

The next challenge was we had to make paper close. The materials we had was 6 news paper and 2 meters of tape. But my group did not do well because when I got my close ready it ripped so and the rest of my group also did't go well.

The last challenge was called marble log. For marble log you have to make a devise that can get the marble 3 meters away. Therese a can and you have to try and aim then you have to try to make the marble hit the can or pass the line. If you hit the can you get 5 points and if you pass the line you get 3 points. My team did't get any points because the mane devise didn't work because it toke to long. Then one person from my team started to make a backup devise but there was not much time left so it did't work.

So what do you do for PBL. Maybe you should blog about it.

The magnificent Museum

Hi My name is Dejon and I am going to talk about the trip to the museum. On the 16th of September My hub called tumu year 5,6 went to the museum It was so fun. So in the morning my hub did a bit of RE then we got are bags and got ready.

since theirs 85 of us we needed back up so we called in the parents. I would be playing music now but its a blog so I cant. Ow and don't worry you will see images of the museum and its so fun so why wouldn't I! So we sat down and the teachers did the roll!

Then something happens my mum was one of the backup parents so it was 50 percent more fun! The teachers put us in groups of five and we were not allowed to take 85 bags so in each group we had to use only 2 bags. So me and my friend Used are bag because it was the biggest in the group.

Wen we arrived at the museum I thought it was a 1950s building and I never really new If it was a 1950s building or it was just made to look like that? Then we went inside It looked very new and outside was like so old so I was like what? Then this man was like hi I will be your, and I never really new what he was called so I am just going to say the person that tells us what every thing is. This is what he looked like and his name Anthony

So that's what he looks like. Then as you can see in the image he took us to the place I like to call the Maori room! So he took us there and told us a bit about them like how did they survive in that time and it was very interesting. After that we got to look at some of Maoris technology, not like real technology just like stuff that they made. There was a lot of cool stuff but I cant remember what stuff there was so sorry.

Next Anthony took us to a room and we did some cool stuff.

So what we did was Anthony let us do some thing that the Maori people did.

So he showed us how they made fire, make rocks smother, make canoes, and more! Her are a lot of images that I will show you.
That's the fire making.

And that's canoe making.

And so much more. Then it was lunch time and that's wen the real fun begins because there was a tree with a hundreds of branches!

So wen everybody was done with lunch they ran to the tree. It was very fun because you could clime branches and stuff. After that there wasn't much left😧. So my group just wonder around and then we found a mummy. Not a mum but the real mummy. So wen I sore it I was like guys were going to look at the mummy and everyone was like wow theirs a mummy!  Then I said yea lets take a look so we went inside but after a while every one was gone except me. I was still looking at the marvellous things in their. After that we just had a look at big birds and penguins. Then my group went to the polar bears place and had a look their. Their was a lot of cool things their like games and documentaries But then my mum was like ow look at the time we have to go and I was like WHAT.

So what school trips do you go on?

PBL rotations

Hi my name is Dejon and I am going to talk about my PBL rotations.

1. Our first rotation was about Waitangi Day. Waitangi Day is when the Europeans met the Maoris. They had a big war but then they signed a Treaty to peace.

2. Next, we learnt about world war 2 and 1. So we learned about how people got cover and stuff like that. I did a kahoot about facts about world war 1.

3. Last, we did new New Zealand disasters I chose a train that had 285 then a lot off the people died.
Her is a link to my train work. we video

So what rotation do you like?

Going back in time to ferry mead

Hi My name is Dejon and I am going to talk about my tripe to go back in time. On the 29th of October My hub went to ferry mead. In ferry mead it looked like going back in time because they made a real town that looked as if it was 1910. Wen we arrived we had to dress up as if we where going to school in 1940 This is what we looked like.

After that they we had some rules. Some of the rules where ladies first never slouch and that was a bit hard. After that we got into groups and we walked around the town. here is some images of the town.

So we got into groups and walked around the town. So we watch a old movie but very short and we even got to look at some homes that was made a very long time ago. Then we went to look what school was like 100 years ago. we even had to use a feather ink pen.

So how would you like to go back in time with ferry mead?

The letter from parihaka

                       Dear Sir John

Over the past few weeks we have been learning to write both formal and informal letters. Here is a example of a letter I wrote about a political event in New Zealand past.

Dear Sir John.
I am so ashamed that you sent your soldiers to come and destroy our village. We didn't even fight your soldiers back and we even gave bread to the soldiers. I am so angry to have to write a letter to you  I strongly believe that you should stand down your men.

   Sincerely Dejon
